While in Kindergarten, your child has been developing their pre-reading skills phonemic and phonological awareness, which contributes to their ability to read. To continue with the learning and progress your child has made, we would like to provide you with resources for activities that can be done at home to help your child continue to grow as a reader!
First, we would like to provide you with the current sight word list for Kindergarten for you to have at home. All of the words are provided and are formatted for easy printing to be used as flashcards. Many of the activities that will be provided below can be used to make practicing sight words fun for your child.
Reading Rockets is a great research-based resource that can be used to help build many literacy skills. Provided below are links to activities separated by skill that can be done at home to continue your kindergartener’s learning.
Continued practice with these skills is some of the best things you can do to help your child grow into a confident reader. Many of these skills are verbal and visual that can be practiced anywhere. Provided below are some activities that can be done in the car or waiting in line at the store, along with some activities that can be easily made at home that can provide a learning experience and quality family time.
