CHS girls shine at home tournament

The Cloverleaf High School girls wrestling team delivered an outstanding performance at the first Lorain County Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association Tournament Feb. 9 at CHS. The team finished second out of nine teams with 117 points — well ahead of third-place Avon Lake (66). The Colts crowned three individual champions: Natalie Wise (110 lbs), Berkeley Craddock (130 lbs) and Carrigan Baltic (135 lbs).

Other top finishes included:

2nd Place: Jayna Wise (105 lbs), Amelia Ryncarz (155 lbs)
3rd Place: Alyson Croft (140 lbs), Aubrey Willig (145 lbs)
4th Place: Shannon Wertman (120 lbs)

The opportunity to compete in front of the home crowd was special for the young program. “Since this is only our second year having a girls team, I feel like we’re improving,” Baltic said. “It’s so nice to invite other girls teams to our school and see girls wrestling keep growing.”

With sectionals just two weeks away, the team is gaining confidence and momentum. “I’m excited for the postseason,” Craddock shared. “I’m going in with a good attitude and confidence.”

Congratulations to the Colts on a fantastic showing!
