Eugene Clark served as Cloverleaf High School principal from 1960 to 1979. Before the district was consolidated, Mr. Clark was superintendent of Leroy School. He went on to serve Cloverleaf as principal of Westfield Elementary School, high school principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent (1966-67).
Mr. Clark was born in Allegany in western New York and served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. He earned a bachelor's degree from Kent State University and a master's degree from Western Reserve University. Following his retirement, Cloverleaf’s stadium was named in Mr. Clark’s honor and a scholarship was created in his name. He was an integral part of the community, serving as a member of the Leroy Lions Club and as mayor of Westfield Center from 1980-84. Mr. Clark was inducted into the Cloverleaf Athletic Hall of Fame in 1993. He passed away in 1998 at age 77 and is buried at Leroy Cemetery in Westfield Center.
We're grateful for the opportunity to honor Mr. Clark for his dedication to the Cloverleaf community and proud to see the athletic complex that bears his name rejuvenated for the benefit of students and Colts fans for generations to come.
