Laws of Life essay winners

Five Cloverleaf High School students have been selected to compete at the state level in the Laws of Life Essay Contest sponsored by the Better Business Bureau of Akron. The competition invites high school students to reflect on the personal values they aspire to live by and to compose a three-page essay on these “laws of life.”

It’s the first year Cloverleaf students have competed in the contest, which was incorporated into the high school’s English language arts program this fall as a personal narrative writing assignment.

The school-wide winners were honored in a Nov. 6 reception at Cloverleaf High School. They are (front row, left to right): Senior Jami Letzelter, junior Brooke Wolfe, senior Kaitlin Parker, senior Alex Showman, and senior Ben Stefanko. Also pictured (back row, left to right): Assistant Principal Bart Randolph, Principal Jamie Lormeau, English language arts teacher Brittany Charek, English language arts teacher Tonya Swain, English language arts teacher Mary Lee Wooley, board of education member Bill Schmock, and English language arts teacher Joel Shurance.

Students whose essays receive awards at the state level will receive cash prizes. Finalists will be notified in April 2016.
