CMS is excited to introduce a new member of our school community — Murphy, our certified therapy dog! Murphy is a Brittany breed, born in 2024, and he will be visiting our campus a few times each month with his handler-owner, Kerri Harris. Murphy’s favorite activity is getting belly rubs! He is already bringing lots of smiles to our halls.
Therapy dogs are specially trained to provide comfort, reduce stress and promote a positive school environment. Research shows interacting with a therapy dog can help students feel calmer, improve focus, support emotional regulation and even build social skills. Murphy will work alongside staff to support students in a variety of settings, helping to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
We look forward to the joy and comfort Murphy will bring to our middle school family!

The CMS Power of the Pen team competed in the regional tournament held at Kent State University on March 7. Two students automatically qualified for the state tournament in May, held at Ashland University. The other students must wait until the other regional tournaments are complete to see if they will have a spot in the state tournament. Great job!
