New Kindergarten Age Requirements for 2026-27

Dear Cloverleaf Families,

We want to share an important update about expanded eligibility for kindergarten enrollment beginning with the 2026-27 school year.

A new law (HB 114) changed how kindergarten eligibility is determined in Ohio. It requires incoming kindergartners to be 5 years old on or before the first day of instruction. Since Cloverleaf’s first day of kindergarten for the 2026-27 school year is Aug. 21, all students must be age 5 on or before that date to enroll.

Cloverleaf’s previous cutoff was Aug. 1. Now, children who turn 5 between Aug. 2-21 are eligible to begin kindergarten.

As an additional note, children who turn 6 on or before Aug. 21, and have not yet completed first grade, are required to be enrolled in school.
