WESTFIELD TWP. -- The public is invited to the grand opening celebration of the new Cloverleaf High School and Middle School from noon to 2 p.m. on Sept. 21. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.
There will be a program at noon in the Cloverleaf Center for the Performing Arts featuring the world premiere of "Stronger Together" -- a choral work by composer Sherry Blevins commissioned for this event, performed by the Cloverleaf High School Crescendo Show Choir, and conducted by Director of Choirs Angela Leonard. The event also includes remarks from U.S Rep. Max Miller, state Rep. Sharon Ray and district leaders. Light refreshments will be served.
Following the program, the public is invited to tour the combined grades 6-12 building until 2 p.m. Cloverleaf staff and student leaders will be on hand to direct visitors and share information about the new school, which opened for classes Aug. 26. Highlights include flexible learning spaces, a 650-seat auditorium, three gymnasiums, a courtyard, an NBA-size basketball court, a woodworking shop, collegiate-style dining areas, and – at long last for high school students – air-conditioning.
Construction of the $69.5 million, 230,000-square-foot school was funded entirely by tax revenue from the NEXUS Natural Gas Pipeline and by the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission. No Cloverleaf taxpayer funds were used for construction. The new building replaces a high school opened in 1960 and a middle school opened in 1970.
Cloverleaf High School and Middle School are located at 7540 Buffham Road in Westfield Township.
