Cloverleaf High School’s varsity Quiz Bowl team travels to Chicago April 22-24 to compete against the top teams in the nation in the 2022 NAQT Small School National Championship Tournament.

Teams qualify for the SSNCT by their performance in regular-season tournaments. The field is capped at 55 schools. The Colts varsity team is composed of Elisabeth Hilton, Preston Parsons, Graham Powalie and Liam Stephens.

Cloverleaf earned an overall record of 9-5 In 2021-22 Summit County Academic Challenge League play. The team finished the fall season at 3-4, but went 6-1 in the spring to earn runner-up honors in its division. Powalie and Preston Parsons earned Third-Team All-Conference awards. Junior varsity player Asa Stephens was the top scorer in the entire league – also finishing with the highest number of “power” (or quick-answer) points.

In addition to Asa Stephens, members of the junior varsity include Jase Homan, Brady Keller, Vanessa Monhemius and Everett Parsons.

High school teacher Steven Glick is the team’s head coach. Jenny Pertee, also a teacher at Cloverleaf High School, is the high school assistant coach and the head coach of the Cloverleaf Middle School Quiz Bowl team.
