WESTFIELD TWP. -- Parent-volunteer Amy Winnicki and Cloverleaf High School secretary Kristi Perry are the winners of the 2021 Cloverleaf Pride Awards, which each year recognize one community member and one staff member who go above and beyond in their service to Cloverleaf students.

For 22 years, Mrs. Winnicki has been a constant presence in the schools as a leader in the high school Quiz Bowl team booster organization, selling concessions at a host of events, assisting the high school drama club, and helping distribute food to Cloverleaf families during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mrs. Winnicki is instrumental each year in decorating for high school graduation and has volunteered on multiple school levy campaign committees.

Her daughter Emily Winnicki said of her mom: “(She) cares about the dreams of every child in our school district -- no matter if she knows them or not.”

Mrs. Perry, who is retiring this month after 32 years at Cloverleaf, has served as high school secretary for the past 21 years. Each day brings a variety of challenges when it comes to managing a school office. Mrs. Perry’s colleagues characterize her as always responding to those challenges by putting the needs of children first. Among her responsibilities has been coordinating Cloverleaf’s high school graduation ceremony each spring. She has also organized staff volunteers to deliver food to students to provide them nutritious meals during the summer.

In nominating Mrs. Perry for the Pride Award, one colleague wrote: “She exemplifies what Cloverleaf should be.”

Nominations for the award are submitted by the public, students, parents and district employees, then reviewed by a committee of community members and staff. Winners are selected based on a rubric that factors in each nominee’s contributions in multiple categories -- including academic and extracurricular support, years of involvement, and specific examples of service to Cloverleaf students.

Perry and Winnicki received their Cloverleaf Pride Awards during the June 16 meeting of the Cloverleaf Board of Education.
