Doy gracias por ...

Just before Thanksgiving, the sixth- and seventh-grade foreign language students in Mrs. Petrak's classes brainstormed words in the target language of things they are thankful for (Spanish for sixth and French for seventh). After the brainstorm, students used the shared Google Doc list to learn how to say, write, and draw three to four things they were thankful for. Students were exposed to many new vocabulary words, but more importantly, vocabulary words that are important and meaningful to them. Students then took their mini projects home to share.

“This activity encourages students to be thankful, reflective, and positive,” said Mrs. Petrak. “We also address the Ohio World Language Standards for Interpretive Intercultural Communication since students are identifying practiced/familiar words and phrases supported by visuals. It is great to see students make personal connections to the language. The drawings were so cute and it was fun to get to know students better during the work on this mini project! I am excited to share some photos of my students' amazing work!"
