A message from Food and Nutrition Services

A Message from Cloverleaf Food and Nutrition Services:

Due to the most recent romaine lettuce recall, we thought it would be helpful to reassure Cloverleaf families that no romaine lettuce or products containing romaine are being served in any of our buildings. We received notice of the recall through our vendors on Nov. 24 and quickly reached out to all of our cafeterias to ensure any products containing romaine were removed, per our recall protocol.

Moving forward, we will not serve romaine until the ban has been lifted. That being said, with the absence of romaine, other lettuce items will be in high demand and the past has taught us there may be a shortage of replacement lettuce.

Cloverleaf cafeterias follow a strict produce-handling protocol. Every piece of produce we receive is washed and rinsed -- even if it’s received in a bag labeled “Ready to Eat.” This has always been our practice and it offers another line of defense against contamination. We suggest Cloverleaf families do the same in their home kitchens.

We appreciate your continued support of our food service program.
