Cloverleaf High School’s varsity Quiz Bowl team powered to a 6-5 record at the online Jesse Brown Small School Showcase on Jan. 30 against some of the top public school Quiz Bowl teams in the eastern United States. The invitational is hosted by Glasgow High School in Kentucky. In 11 rounds of tournament play, Cloverleaf bested teams from Illinois, Minnesota, New York and New Hampshire -- as well as posting big wins over Ohio powerhouses Beachwood and Ottawa Hills.

“Our Colts showed they've earned the right to be called one of the best small public school teams in the country,” said Coach Cameron Flint.

The team was led by seniors Brooks Powalie, Emily Winnicki, Joseph Charek and Abby Washinger, with important contributions from freshman Graham Powalie.

Cloverleaf is coming off its 16th league title in the Quiz Bowl program’s history – winning the Summit County League Fall Championship last month. Portage Trail Conference play and the Summit County League Winter Season begin in February.
