Medina County Auditor Mike Kovack and Chief Deputy Auditor Joan Heller visited Cloverleaf Elementary School to recognize three district winners in the annual Top Dog Essay Contest. More than 400 fourth-graders from around Medina County submitted essays on why they think their dog is the best.

Earning third place overall was Cloverleaf’s Jake Gall, who wrote about his dog Mudge. Winning Honorable Mention prizes were Nicole Goode, who wrote about her dog Dozer, and Jaeda Dotson, who wrote about her aunt’s dog Gilligan. Winners received special prize packages donated by local sponsors.

Kovack told students his office issues licenses for more than 25,000 dogs in Medina County, with all proceeds going to the Medina County Animal Shelter.
