Financial aid & college planning Oct. 27

Attention college-bound juniors, seniors and their parents: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA has undergone significant changes this year. Please join us at 5 p.m. Oct. 27 for a presentation by three college admission and financial aid experts to learn more.

At 5 p.m., Michele Stasitis from the University of Akron will discuss how to best plan and prepare for college. This presentation is geared toward juniors and their parents.

At 6 p.m., Michael Johnson from Patriot Capital Financial will discuss financial aid information and offer tips for parents.

At 6:30 p.m., Dawn Langdon from Ashland University will discuss financial aid information including changes to the FAFSA process, grants, loans, scholarships and more.

Seniors can fill out the FAFSA starting Oct. 1 for the 2017-18 academic year. This is three months earlier than previous years. Seniors who intend to pursue post-secondary education can submit their FAFSA using 2015 tax information for the 2017-18 academic year. In previous years this would have been 2016 information.

Priority deadlines for filing the FAFSA at many Ohio schools are changing and in some cases moving up to Dec. 1. Please click HERE to visit the CHS Guidance page for more information on the FAFSA, including a list of Ohio schools with anticipated priority filing deadlines.
