Alumni and community members are invited to join students and their families in celebrating Cloverleaf‘s 2015 Homecoming with a bonfire and pregame parade.

The festivities are being organized by Cloverleaf High School Student Council. Adviser Mollie Jarvis said the idea is to get back to what the word “homecoming” is all about. It’s a time when graduates and all those with ties to the school district are invited to come back to renew old friendships and celebrate being part of the Cloverleaf tradition.

“Homecoming is more than a dance. It’s about alumni and about building a sense of community,” said Jarvis, a Cloverleaf High School art teacher.

The bonfire re-kindles a longstanding Cloverleaf tradition. The event will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 22 in the grassy area near the entrance to Gene Clark Stadium. As in the past, runners from the high school cross country team will deliver a ceremonial "torch" prior to the lighting of the bonfire.

The night will include a pep rally led by Cloverleaf High School cheerleaders and music performed by members of the high school marching band. There will be a “treat truck” offering free hot chocolate and donuts, sponsored by First Merit and Miller Brothers.

All Cloverleaf alumni, community members, current students of all ages and their families are invited to the bonfire. However, all elementary and middle school students must be escorted by parents.

Cloverleaf also invites former homecoming queens, football players, cheerleaders and marching band members to be honored at the homecoming football game when the Colts take on visiting Field High School on Oct. 23.

Alumni who were members of the Cloverleaf High School marching band are asked to gather at the band room entrance at 6:15 p.m. to march to the stadium with the band. There they will be joined by former homecoming queens and the 2015 court for a pregame parade around the track beginning at 6:30 p.m.

After the parade, Colts alumni football players will be invited via the public address system to stand in the Cloverleaf end zone during the first quarter of the game. At the start of the second quarter, alumni cheerleaders will be welcomed to the track in front of the home stands to join current cheerleaders in leading the crowd in the Cloverleaf fight song cheer.
