On Nov. 20, the Cloverleaf Colts junior varsity and varsity girls basketball teams played the Highland Hornets in an Ohio High School Athletic Association Foundation game to support Cloverleaf High School Junior Achievement’s Heroes over Heroin initiative.

Raffle baskets were contributed by both teams and by Junior Achievement to raise money to bring awareness and help those affected by the heroin epidemic. Including the raffle baskets, a 50-50 raffle, and the gate admissions, more than $1,400 was raised at the event.

At halftime, a $1,000 check was donated to Stefanie Robinson, who is executive director of the Hope Recovery Community in Medina.

The money donated to the Hope Recovery Community will help recovering addicts with holistic personalized treatments to get their lives back on track.

“The night went really well,” said Cloverleaf senior Tanzi Buchan, a Junior Achievement member. “We raised $1,400. We are super thankful for both teams and all the staff that helped at the event.”

The Heroes over Heroin initiative originated at Cloverleaf High School as part of Junior Achievement a few years ago. The group focuses on educating others and raising money for the heroin epidemic in the Cloverleaf community and throughout Medina County.

Members are currently working on a book to sell on Amazon to offer inspiration to people suffering from the heroin epidemic, and to motivate people of all ages to live a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

The organization plans more fundraisers in the future to raise money for this great cause.
