CMS students on the move!

Cloverleaf Middle School has been selected to participate in the 2019 Straight from the Heart Youth Movement Contest, sponsored by the Cleveland Clinic. The contest is designed to help combat youth obesity by encouraging North east Ohio school-age children to be more active. The contest winner receives $5,000 toward creating a health and wellness program of the school’s choice.

To enter the contest, teachers submitted a one-minute video explaining why their class should be selected and describing the wellness initiative the prize money would be used for. CMS physical education teacher Alanna Gasper submitted the entry – with creative assistance from art teacher Adam Michael in making the video.

As a participating school, CMS will receive wearable physical activity-tracking devices for 40 students. The school that records the most movement from Feb. 1 through Feb. 28 wins the $5,000 grant. Students may keep the activity trackers when the contest is over.
