Fire Safety Poster Contest winner

Cloverleaf Elementary School first-grader Brayden Gearhart is one of 12 statewide winners in the Ohio fire marshal’s annual Fire Safety Poster Contest.

School districts across the state are invited to participate in the poster-design competition, sponsored by a local fire department. Westfield Fire and Rescue sponsored the contest at Cloverleaf and selected one winner from grades kindergarten through third, and another winner from grades fourth and fifth.

Cloverleaf Elementary School’s finalists were Brayden and fourth-grader Evie Barth. Their posters were submitted to the state fire marshal’s office for final judging, which chooses 12 winners from the entire state. Brayden’s poster was chosen as one of the dozen statewide winners. It will be included in next year’s state fire safety calendar -- available on the agency’s website – as well as displayed at the fire marshal’s office and at the Ohio State Fair.

In February, Westfield Fire and Rescue hosted a pizza party for Cloverleaf Elementary School’s fire safety poster contest semifinalists. In addition to Brayden and Evie, semifinalists included: Landon Behunin, James Lomas, Kevin Reed, Vanessa Monhemius, Addison Evans, Caroline Sitko, Breanna Gundel, Bailey Strader, Ellen Chen and Emmie Barth.
