How is Cloverleaf's Preschool set up?
The preschool classes run by Cloverleaf are primarily designed to serve students with disabilities who are between the ages of 3 and 5. We currently run four (4) half-day classes with two Intervention Specialists and their paraprofessionals. Each class can serve a maximum of twelve (12) students, eight (8) of whom can be students with a disability, for a total of 48 enrolled students. Our classes are in operation Mondays through Thursdays during the school year, leaving Fridays available for a variety of other meetings that must be conducted for preschools.
What do I do if I feel my child has a disability?
First, call Special Services at 330-721-3517 and be prepared to describe a little bit about your child. Second, be prepared to schedule a referral meeting with a Cloverleaf representative if there appears to be sufficient evidence that your child is struggling in some area(s) of development, including speech & language, fine motor, gross motor, vision, hearing, behavior, and several other domains. If, after the evaluation process, your child is determined to be a student with a disability, it is possible that your child could attend the program for free.
What if I feel my child is "typical"?
Our preschool program strives to be an inclusive setting. We are allowed to enroll a mixture of students with disabilities and students who are typically developing up to the total of twelve mentioned above for each class. Special Services, along with the Intervention Specialists who teach the classes, offer two or more screenings throughout the year to find typically developing students whose families are willing to enroll them as role models in our classes. While there is a monthly charge for attending, we work hard to make sure the costs are competitively priced. Check the Cloverleaf homepage frequently for announcements about the next screening opportunity or call 330-721-3517 to see when a session has been scheduled.
