WHAT TO BRING? Completed PRC Form with Income documentation or JFS letter of Qualification, Birth Certificate, SS card, and a photo ID
I did not receive a letter, DO I QUALIFY???? Are between the ages of 16-22? Does your family income fall in the 200% poverty guide?? Do you have a minor (someone under the age of 18) in your residence?? ThenYESyou do!!!!! You will need to provide documentation of household income in order to obtain eligibility! Bring Current30days worth of income documentation IE- Pay stubs!

Attention girls interested in trying out for cheerleading for the 2013-2014 season. There will be a PARENT meeting in the CHS cafeteria on May 15th from 6-7 p.m. See Mrs. Swain in room 906 if you have questions. Attention Extreme Challenge students! Please stop by prevention and pick up a field trip form. They are due back to Mrs. Bican by Tuesday May 14th.
Attention Seniors: The senior awards list is posted on the guidance bulletin board for the seniors who have earned a Diploma with Honors, an Award of Merit, and/or the President's Award for Educational Excellence. Please check the list to make sure your name is listed and spelled correctly. All of these seniors will be recognized at the Scholarship & Awards Assembly, which will be held in the high school gymnasium beginning at 8 a.m. on Friday, May 24th.
Students interested in summer employment with the Medina County Work Program need to stop in Room 161 and speak with Mrs. Brenner. She will be available from 7:30am- 9:15am every morning.
Attention CHS!! Don't forget to turn in any VOFT hours you have completed to Mrs. Smith or Mrs. Miracle by May 30th. Blank forms are available in guidance.
Attention Juniors:
Miami University in Oxford, Ohio will be having a "Junior Scholars Program" for six weeks this coming summer. The Junior Scholars Program provides a total college experience for academically-talented, rising high school seniors during a six-week, summer term in which they do the following:
Program Details
This year's Junior Scholars program will take placeJune 30–August 9, 2013.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Junior Scholars program, you must meet the following criteria:
- Completion of your junior year of high school by June 30, 2013, and not graduate before January 2014.
- Minimum high school g.p.a. of 3.5 (in most cases) or rank in the top 10 percent of your class.
- Recommendation by a high school teacher, school counselor, or principal.
- Certification of English language skills (e.g., TOEFL or letter from your English teacher) if English is not your native language.
Fees
Costs for room, board, and instructional fees vary, depending on number of credit hours taken and Ohio residency status. Please see thedetailed program fees for more information.
Application
To apply for the Junior Scholars Program, please submit the following:
- Junior Scholars Application and Recommendation form(PDF 223 KB)
- Official high school transcript
- Official test scores (ACT or SAT for domestic students; TOEFL for international students)
- If English is not your native language, then please submit your TOEFL scores or a letter from your English teacher certifying your English language skills. Please note that for non-native English speakers, either a college aptitude test score or certification of English language skills is required - not both.
Applicants will be notified of their admission status beginning March 15, 2013. If you are accepted, registration materials and housing forms will be mailed separately. Please note that course availability may vary based upon the date by which participants confirm their enrollment in the program.

attention sophomores and juniors: There are Washington DC Youth Tour Awards available to sophomores and juniors who reside with their parents/guardians and receive electric service from Lorain Medina Rural Electric Cooperative. Ohio Business Week Foundation is a statewide non-profit organization that provides high school students a unique hands-on experience with business and entrepreneurship. There are 2 week long summer programs that are available to students who would like to explore entrepreneurship, experience college life and translate textbook economic theories into "real world" business practices. The summer dates for this program are June 23-29 at Ohio Dominican University and July 28- August 3 at Youngstown State University. If interested students apply before February 28th they will get a $50.00 discount. April 30th is the deadline. Please stop by the guidance office to pick up more information and to pick up an application.
The summer of 2013 will mark the fourteenth year of the high school summer internship program at Center for Imaging Science at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. This unique program offers a limited number of highly qualified juniors the opportunity to work side-by-side with world class scientists on a variety of imaging-related research projects. These paid internships give students the chance to get valuable hands-on experience in a real laboratory setting as contributing members of a research team. The Cleveland Clinic is currently recruiting high school volunteers to serve as Junior Ambassador volunteers for the 2013 Junior Ambassador Summer Program. Duties include: Greet Patients and visitors, provide escorts and directions, provide wheelchair transport, deliver mail, flowers and/or magazines to patients, enter computerized data, reading and assisting with craft projects with pediatric patients, assisting on nursing units. Requirements to participate: Complete Volunteer Services Department mandatory orientation (6/17/13), Commitment to minimum of 100 hours of service during summer, commitment to regular weekly schedule: (Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm), Minimum age requirement is 15 years of age, Minimum Grade Point Average of 3.00. See the guidance office if you would like to pick up a filer.

Attention students ages 11-17: The Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC) is a program for young men and women ages 13-17 who are interested in developing their skills in leadership, basic seamanship, courage, self-reliance, military discipline, and are committed to being drug and gang free.
The Navy League Cadet Corps (NLCC) is the junior cadet program for the Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC). The NLCC introduces boys and girls ages 11-14 to naval life through instruction in basic seamanship and leadership.
